10th Annual WINTER WARMTH COLLECTION
takes place November 30th through December 7th.
Please donate new or gently used coats, and socks - or a donation of money.
“Our Neighbors were beyond thrilled with the new items they received. Their faces really lit up when in receipt of the new coats. We felt like those gifts—not just of warmth, but brand new clothing—spoke to the dignity and respect we try to show Neighbors at BACN.”

Hello Frankfort/Visiting Rotarians and Community Friends:

In October, we sent ADVANCE NOTICE of our annual WINTER WARMTH COLLECTION – our TENTH! It’s again being co-sponsored by Frankfort Rotary and our friends at BACN.

Here is an update advising the drop-off locations and collection details.

When? Collection Dates at the Drop-off Locations are:
• Wednesday November 30th through Wednesday Wednesday December 7th.
• In addition, our friends at The Hotel Frankfort are accepting coats and socks from NOW (11/8/22) right the way through December 7th – front desk is open 9am-7pm daily.

Where?: Drop-off locations (during normal business hours) are:
1) The Hotel Frankfort, 231 Main Street, Frankfort
2) State Savings Bank, 703 Main Street, Frankfort
3) Webber Insurance Agency, 1450 US. 31, Benzonia
4) Curtis Insurance Agency, 405 Main Street, Frankfort

What are we collecting?
1. Coats. Coats and Coats. BACN has asked that this year we again focus on coats (but not hats, scarves, gloves, sweaters, etc, as in prior collections.)
a. Coats should be new,  or, have been purchased within the past five years – the idea being to eliminate fabrics (such as wool, leather, suede) that need dry or special cleaning, Dry-cleaning is something that our Neighbors struggle to afford, and most of the newer coats are the water-resistant, insulated ski-type jackets that are more easily machine washed.
b. Packaging: Coats do not need to be bagged, but plastic bagging does help to keep them clean during transportation.
2. Socks : all sizes, but especially kids‘ sox – which must be new and in factory packacking.
The good news is that BACN opened the doors of their new building on October 31st. They are thrilled at the prospect of having the space needed for the coats and socks--which continue to be their biggest need-- coming in from this drive!

Another idea: You could instead, if it’s more convenient, write a check to Frankfort Rotary Club, memo Winter Collection 2022, and mail it to Frankfort Rotary, PO Box 2181, Frankfort, MI 49635. We (Frankfort Rotary) will record and then pass the accumulated funds on to BACN: which BACN will use to the buy the needed Winter Warmth items.

On the subject of what our Winter Warmth collection means to our Neighbors, here’s what BACN’s Kelly Ottinger wrote about a prior year’s collection:
“Our Neighbors were beyond thrilled with the new items they received. Their faces really lit up when in receipt of the new coats. We felt like those gifts—not just of warmth, but brand new clothing—spoke to the dignity and respect we try to show Neighbors at BACN.”

Kelly also wrote “We know you have a heart for providing the new socks for both children and adults, and we will gratefully be able to also accept those as well.”

We are so grateful for the Rotary’s care of Neighbors through this project!”

Please do find it in your heart to help Frankfort Rotary and BACN to bring warmth to our Benzie Neighbors!

One other thing – please feel free to spread the word!! The more, the merrier!

Thank you, thank you, and do feel free to email me with any questions,
