Grand Valley State University Physician Assistant Program

We are currently doing a research study within Benzie County looking at how individuals are managing their blood pressure at home. We know that Benzie county has higher rates of hypertension compared to other counties in Michigan but we wanted to take the research a step further and investigate whether individuals use home blood pressure monitors and, if not, what barriers exist that prevent them being used. Our ultimate goal is to secure funding to provide home blood pressure monitors to local healthcare offices where they can be given to individuals who need one. We have the support of Leelanau/Benzie county public health and are partnered with GVSU's public health program.
